Congratulations, STISD District Teacher of the Year: Cindy Key of the Science Academy

STISD is proud to announce the 2024 STISD District Teacher of the Year, Cindy Key of STISD Science Academy.

An educator for 25 years, Key has worked in middle and high schools across the country, including in Florida, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Texas. She has also held administrative roles as an assistant principal with IDEA Public Schools and a Partnerships Coordinator with STISD. Now at the Science Academy, Key is currently the English Department’s Chair, an Advanced Placement (AP) instructor, and a dual enrollment instructor with South Texas College. She was a semi-finalist last year for the H-E-B Teaching Excellence in Education Award and was recently invited by the College Board’s AP English Chief Reader to assist with the sample selection process for the AP English Language and Composition reading.

South Texas ISD to serve free meals for community June 1-30

STISD will serve free breakfast and lunch meals to children 18 years old and younger from our local communities and enrolled students up to 21 years old with disabilities this summer from June 1 to June 30.

The meals will be served via dine-in only at the cafeterias of four different STISD campuses.

These meals will be provided at no cost to the family, and children do not have to be enrolled within STISD to receive meals.
