The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently announced the release of its 2026 A–F Accountability Ratings for public school systems and campuses across the state, with South Texas Independent School District (STISD) and all seven of its campuses earning an ‘A’ rating.

Among 45 school districts in Region One, STISD earned the highest overall district rating. The recognition comes as 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses across Texas received ratings in 2026.

With the new school year just around the corner, STISD is preparing to welcome students back to campus with nutritious meals and options.

The STISD Nutrition Department has released its August breakfast and lunch menus, giving students and families an opportunity to plan ahead for the first weeks of school.

South Texas ISD will host Back-2-School Kick-Off Makeup Events at all STISD schools on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon for enrolled students/families who were unable to attend their campus event held Aug. 4-6.

During the makeup events, families can visit their student’s campus to pick up class schedules and free school supplies provided by STISD.

Get ready to kick off the 2026-2027 school year at our STISD Back-2-School Kick-Off!

Join us as we welcome students and families back to campus. Meet teachers, tour the campus, connect with clubs and organizations, enjoy free food, participate in games and activities, and pick up your school supplies—provided by STISD at no cost to families.

Students who are registered for the 2026-2027 school year can also pick up their schedules during the event.

STISD will continue offering free summer breakfast and lunch meals through July 23 for children 18 and younger, as well as enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21.

Meals are served dine-in only Monday through Thursday at the cafeterias of four STISD campuses. Breakfast is available from 7:30–8:30 a.m., and lunch is served from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

We are pleased to share South Texas ISD will resume normal operations tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17, following our regular summer schedule.

Please note that summer camps, state assessments, and other on-campus activities will not resume this week. Any state assessments that were postponed will be rescheduled for a later date; additional information is forthcoming.

  • Safety Updates

Due to the current weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing today's summer camps effective immediately.  

Students who are currently on campus may be picked up by their parents/guardians and will be transported home via their bus transportation. Staff will continue to monitor weather conditions closely to ensure students arrive home safely.
