The STISD Science Academy Esports Marvel Rivals team added a national title to its growing list of accomplishments this summer, claiming the championship at the ESC National Esports Tournament in Orlando.

STISD families: We invite you to join us for our upcoming Open Houses, Sept. 8–10 from 6–8 p.m. These events are a great opportunity to connect with campus staff, learn more about your student’s school and programs, and get important information to help support a successful school year.

Last week, U.S. News & World Report released its 2026–2027 Best High Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings, with all four STISD high schools placing among the top 150 in Texas and both STISD middle schools among the top 100 in the state.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently announced the release of its 2026 A–F Accountability Ratings for public school systems and campuses across the state, with South Texas Independent School District (STISD) and all seven of its campuses earning an ‘A’ rating.

Among 45 school districts in Region One, STISD earned the highest overall district rating. The recognition comes as 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses across Texas received ratings in 2026.

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, Superintendent Dr. Sandra Garza Ochoa welcomes South Texas ISD students and families and shares the district’s commitment to supporting every student’s success. South Texas ISD will host Back-2-School Kick-Off Makeup Events at all STISD schools on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon for enrolled students/families who were unable to attend their campus event held Aug. 4-6.

During the makeup events, families can visit their student’s campus to pick up class schedules and free school supplies provided by STISD.
