STISD, All Seven Campuses Earn ‘A’ Ratings in 2026 TEA Accountability Ratings

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently announced the release of its 2026 A–F Accountability Ratings for public school systems and campuses across the state, with South Texas Independent School District (STISD) and all seven of its campuses earning an ‘A’ rating.

Among 45 school districts in Region One, STISD earned the highest overall district rating. The recognition comes as 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses across Texas received ratings in 2026.

STISD also earned the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction for the 11th consecutive year, further recognizing the district’s continued efforts to prepare students for success beyond high school.

In addition to the overall accountability ratings, STISD campuses earned distinction designations across seven areas: Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts, Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Academic Achievement in Science, Academic Achievement in Social Studies, Top 25%: Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness and Top 25%: Comparative Closing the Gaps.

STISD campus ratings and distinction designations for 2026 include:

• South Texas ISD Health Professions, Mercedes: ‘A’ rating + 6 of 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD Medical Professions, Olmito: ‘A’ rating + 6 of 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD Preparatory Academy, Edinburg: ‘A’ rating + all 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD Rising Scholars Academy, San Benito: ‘A’ rating + all 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD Science Academy, Mercedes: ‘A’ rating + 6 of 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD World Scholars, Edinburg: ‘A’ rating + all 7 available distinction designations
• South Texas ISD Virtual Academy, Rio Grande Valley: ‘A’ rating + 5 of 7 available distinction designations

According to TEA, The Texas A–F Accountability System was established in 2017 by the 85th Texas Legislature through House Bill 22 to provide clear and consistent information on how schools are performing in three key areas: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps. Designed to support continuous improvement, the accountability system is intended to help ensure all students, regardless of background, have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success after graduation. The ratings also help educators and school systems celebrate successes while identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
