Science Academy Esports Team Wins National Championship in Marvel Rivals

The STISD Science Academy Esports Marvel Rivals team added a national title to its growing list of accomplishments this summer, claiming the championship at the ESC National Esports Tournament in Orlando.

The team earned its place in the national tournament after advancing through qualifying competition, bringing together a group of Science Academy students who have demonstrated their ability to compete both academically and in esports.

At the national tournament, the Dragons rose to the top of the competition, ultimately capturing the Marvel Rivals National Championship title.

While their success in competition is impressive, the students’ accomplishments extend well beyond the esports arena. Many members of the team balance their esports commitments with rigorous academic schedules, including three or four Advanced Placement courses each year. Team members have also earned scores of 4s and 5s on AP exams and Masters-level performance on their End-of-Course exams.

For these students, success in esports is another opportunity to apply the same discipline, collaboration and problem-solving skills they use in the classroom.

The national championship marks a significant accomplishment for the Science Academy Esports program and highlights the opportunities available to students to compete at the highest levels while continuing to excel academically.

With the new school year underway, the Dragons are already setting their sights on another successful season and an opportunity to defend their national title.
