While enrolled in STISD middle schools, students take above-grade-level courses in various subject area, with the opportunity to gain high school credits to put them on track for more advanced coursework while attending one of STISD's four high schools.

As a student at the Science Academy, you will learn to create solutions to complex problems, while being instructed by certified engineers and world-class instructors. The campus is partnered with Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a national pre-engineering program in which students can receive college credit beginning freshman year. If you are interested in pursuing a career in a STEM field, the Science Academy has the resources to get you there.

Virtual Academy is STISD’s newest school -  serving students in grades 6-9 in its first year. This is not the same virtual learning you’ve experienced before. Virtual Academy will offer true virtual learning, with instruction and support from certified teachers, small groups and individualized student support. Students will take core courses and electives 100 percent virtually from home, with the opportunity to participate in Dual Credit courses in the future.

Like the six existing STISD schools, Virtual Academy will serve students from Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy Counties. It will eventually serve students in grades 6-12, and will phase in additional grades as these cohorts progress through the school years and new ones enroll
