Special Education

South Texas Independent School District is committed to quality services for students with disabilities in grade levels 7th-12th. This commitment is based on the belief that special education is a service and not a place.

“All students are successful when appropriate services are provided.”

South Texas Independent School District’s Special Education Program is designed to individually challenge students with disabilities to acquire the necessary skills to successfully transition to a post-secondary education of their choice.

A student diagnosed with a disability and interested in attending STISD is required to first attend an IEP meeting at their home district.  This is necessary to ensure the student’s post-secondary educational goals are considered and individual interests are met.

Students referred to Special Education follow the Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
