Thirty-two STISD students will represent the district at the HOSA Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, June 23-26.
In order to qualify to compete at the international competition, teams and individuals had to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the state competition in March.
Individuals and teams from Health Professions, Medical Professions and Preparatory Academy will compete in their respective events virtually.
Health Professions will have 11 competitors, Medical Professions will have four and Preparatory Academy (in its first year competing) will have 17.

Health Professions (Mercedes)
Shiza Khan, 12th-grader of Mission, placed 2nd in Medical Reading.
Juniors: Sealtiel Anulao of Edinburg and Nilani Nmuthoo-Limon of Mission placed 3rd in CPR/First Aid.
Seniors: Jeff Ooi of Mission, Ihssan Al-Quadah of Harlingen, Andrew Sun of Edinburg, and Aisha Sharif of San Benito, placed 3rd in HOSA Bowl.
Juniors: Krissa Jhaveri of Harlingen, Danielle Ebaseh-Onofa of Edinburg, Cassidy Nguyen of Edinburg, and Gillian Sanchez of Brownsville, placed 2nd in Public Health.
Medical Professions (Olmito)
Maria Atkinson, 11th-grader of Rio Hondo, placed 2nd in Speaking Skills; Erica Gonzalez, 12th-grader of Harlingen, placed 2nd in Personal Care; Victoria Hernandez, 12th-grader of Donna, placed 1st in Personal Care; and (Name not listed), 11th-grader of Mission, placed 1st in Life Support.
Preparatory Academy (Edinburg) - Middle School Competition
Jasmine Joseph, 8th-grader of Edinburg, placed 3rd in Medical Terminology; Nithya Santhoshkumar, 8th-grader of Edinburg, placed 2nd in Medical Reading; Gouri Menon, 7th-grader of McAllen, placed 2nd in Prepared Speaking; and Sofia Obregon, 8th-grader of McAllen, placed 3rd in Life Threatening Situations.
Eighth-graders: Vidhya Biju of Edinburg, Ann Jacob of Edinburg, Migha Jomon of Edinburg, Isabel Thoppil of Edinburg, and Siya Vinoj of McAllen, placed 1st in Public Health.
