As part of the Region One competition, they will also get to participate in an author visit with Gordon Korman.

The high school competition held the following evening was close as well, with several teams tied for the majority of it. Team Human from Medical Professions managed to pull ahead by one point in the final match, claiming the traveling trophy and the honor of representing the district at the Region One competition on Friday, Feb. 21. The team, coached by English instructor Joseph Human, includes Vianney Rojas, an 11th-grader from Brownsville; Yamilex Cardiel, an 11th-grader from Brownsville; and Janie Longoria, an 11th-grader from San Benito.
