Hybrids, electric engines, and satellite navigation…the automotive profession is changing rapidly – the average car has six to thirty-six computers managing everything from traction control to the anti-lock braking system (ABS). In STISD Automotive Technology Program, you will learn the skills needed to diagnose, repair and maintain all types of automobiles, trucks and SUVs.

This program integrates hands-on training with the latest equipment. Students of this program may earn ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications, S/P 2 safety certifications, and Valvoline Vo-Tech Motor Oil Certification.

Students are given the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and competencies to maintain, diagnose, and repair the advanced systems on modern automobiles. You can learn to use basic hand tools as well as power tools such as impact wrenches, grinders, drills, tire machines and automotive lifts. You will also be using state-of-the-art equipment such as electronic engine analyzers, oscilloscopes, scan tools and internet-based information systems.

If you possess a desire to learn with a strong work ethic and you want to learn by actively participating in live work and structured shop projects, this may be the program for you.
