BETA & STPA to Host Summer Camps for Middle School Kids

South Texas Independent School District’s (STISD) South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy (BETA) and South Texas Preparatory Academy (STPA) campuses will host three different summer camps for middle school-aged children in the Rio Grande Valley.

BETA is hosting a Summer Robotics Camp for rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade students July 17-19. Students will participate in hands-on activities, learning about designing, building, programming and testing robots. This camp is free of charge, and online registration will open at 6:00 p.m. on July 11 at Limited seats are available, and they will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. STPA is currently registering students for its two camps – the STEM Camp and Tech Camp. Both four-day camps are for rising 6th grade students, and they will be held at the STPA Campus, located at 724 S. Sugar Rd.

The STEM Camp will increase students’ knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Two sessions of this camp will be held: July 17-20 and July 24-27.

The Tech camp will provide an opportunity for students to hone their technology skills, and will give students an early introduction into the technology TEKS and STEM. There will also be two sessions of this camp: July 24-27 and July 31-Aug. 3.
